This program covers information on all the major brain disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, with up-to-date information on symptoms, treatment, community resources, and medications, feelings of those affected by mental illness and issues, concerns and hope for their families, friends care-givers and kin. There is one requirement: participants must have a family member, spouse, friend or significant others with a mental health concern. Open to all races and ethnic groups. Confidential. AACT-NOW Support Group 

AACT-NOW is a support group for African Americans who have family members with mental health issues.  We meet the third Tuesday of the month at the Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro, and often host speakers. We are always open to persons and organizations that may have an interest in supporting or participating in this group.  AACT-NOW is an affiliate of NAMI FACE (Family and Consumer Exchange) of Moorestown.  Contact Winifred Chain if you would like to join the group or would like to present at a future meeting.

Young Adult Society

The Young Adult Society (formerly YS Youth Society) is a social group for young adults with mental health concerns ages 21 to 35.  This group meets twice a month on weekends.  The first meeting of the month is a game night and devoted to planning an activity and the second meeting is the activity or event.  This group is open to members of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.  Contact Winifred Chain if you would like to learn more.

Presentations Available

Winifred Chain, coordinator of Southern New Jersey Chapter of AACT-NOW, is also available to present on issues concerning African Americans and mental health at your church, organization or event, and is available to comment to reporters.  She presents with videos and provides handouts to participants.  Contact Winifred Chain to schedule a date.

Supported Employment/Supported Education


Registration is now open for Supported Employment/Supported Education Specialists and staff of any agency licensed by the NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (NJDMHAS). Staff from other agencies with a mission to facilitate vocational planning and development for people with mental health disorders are also welcome to attend.

These webinars are targeted to enhance the core competencies staff needs to prepare and assist consumers of mental health services interested in competitive work/educational settings.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion upon return of webinar evaluation, Technical assistance will be available upon agency request.
